"love can't replace a mother and father". These hypocrites. These are the same people who advocate that we take away choice then turn their heads when children are lost in the 'system'. And god forbid a gay family wants to give them love and a home...where is the justice?????

I was surprised that a spokesperson for Focus on a Family would ever admit that cay people could love. Usually, fundamentalists state how gay people don't know love and only want children for devious purposes.

could you have posted a more unsympathetic picture? i mean, i don't know anything about mary cheney, but wouldn't anybody within the gay community deserve a better picture? i'm german and i'm just beginning to learn about american politics, so i'm out of the loop, but that picture really makes me sad. i get the irony of the whole thing though. love afterellen (keeps me up-to-date).

Haha! I don't think Mary Cheney looks that bad, but her partner just couldn't be more dykey looking. Not that there's anything wrong with that--last night I was told I look "lesbionic" and took it as a compliment. I'm just surprised Cheney's PR people haven't tried to femme her up a bit.

I can't help but think this baby thing is a passive aggressive way for Cheney to rebel against her father. Then again, she did wait long enough so that there's not that much more damage that can be done to the Republican party at this point. I feel sorry for the child. What a weird environment to be brought up in. Those people have all the money in the world, but they are so effed up. Imagine having Dick Cheney as your grandpa. Yikes! This child is going to need so much therapy.

i have a dad and i for sure dont get love from him in any sort and i havent even came out yet... the traditional family sucks in this day in age. thousands r divorced. kids r born into loveless lives. as long as a family is willing and will love a child anyone should be able to have a kid, reguardless of who they love.

Is it just me who thinks there's something weirdly compelling about Mary Cheney and Heather Poe? Despite the tragic hair. They're a bit like that teacher everyone had in high school. The conservative one with the terrible fashion sense who you just KNEW was a lesbian, and hoped valiantly that one day you'd see her with her girlfriend and you'd be vindicated.
