Portia de Rossi returns to "Nip/Tuck" for Season 6Who's going to pay for all that vegan red velvet cake served at Ellen and Portia's wedding? Well, if the new promo for Season 6 of Nip/Tuck is any indication, Portia de Rossi isn't just sitting home writing thank-you cards and admiring her new lavender KitchenAid.
The promo, which can be seen on Portia's fan site, has a blink-and-you-missed-her clip of Ellen DeGeneres' wife reprising her role as Olivia Lord, the sexy acupuncturist who got all up in Julia McNamara's (Joely Richardson) meridian and helped her release some pent-up vital energies last season.
The brief glimpse offers no indication of how many episodes Portia will be in for Season 6 (which begins in January 2009), but suffice it to say, any screen time is a good time when a beautiful real-life lesbian plays a beautiful fictitious one. When talking last year about taking on the role of a lesbian, Portia told the UK's Daily Mail in an interview, "I had that one moment of, 'Does this mean I'll be typecast as a lesbian? And Ellen turned to me and said, 'So what?' And I thought, 'Oh, yeah, right, so what?'" Yeah, so what? It sure beats playing a character that's so against type, no one's ever going to buy it.
In addition to Portia's return, Sharon Gless (Burn Notice, Queer as Folk) will be back as Colleen Rose, a deranged stalker masquerading as a Hollywood talent agent, whose idea of admiration and contract negotiation involves coffins and scalpels.
Nip/Tuck is not for everyone: There are graphic plastic surgery scenes, messy and often violent relationships between some seriously damaged characters, and strong, occasionally kinky sexual content. I love this show. Submitted by on October 14, 2008 - 12:00pm. |

"Sometimes when i get homesick i hum the mr softee song"
Surprise much?
Why does, and I quote, "messy and often violent relationships between some seriously damaged characters, and strong, occasionally kinky sexual content" remind me of, among other shows, Tila Tequila? (Difference being that TT is actually the 'wrong version' of these shows ;) )
I might actually tune in for an Nip/Tuck episode ^_^
haha!! TT. oh the agony.
haha!! TT. oh the agony.

"Sometimes when i get homesick i hum the mr softee song"
The funny thing is...
Here I go, I just fall in love again.
When I first saw Portia on the Allie McBeal series, I thought to myself, wouldn't it be just fine if she were a lesbian?
Guess my gaydar is in good shape.
Torn
When I see the storylines of Nip/Tuck, I always want to watch... but when it comes to it, I hide behind the sofa during the surgery scenes! So I'm torn about watching the new season - really want to see Portia but will I be able to stand all the gory surgery scenes?

Sharon Gless
*shudders* I can never ever EVER watch Queer as Folk ever again without terrifying images of Sharon Gless from Nip/Tuck. I wish I could say I regret watching this over-the-top show... but I'm kind of hooked.
really, I'm just going to watch the new season for Sharon & Portia. Because Sharon's character was the most interesting/disturbing and because Portia is just gorgeous.
ehhh....
I used to be a huge fan of Nip/Tuck--used to be. The past couple of seasons have been a huge disappointment. One of the reasons I loved the show before was because even as flawed as all of the characters are, there were little glimpses of more complex and occasionally likeable characters that you ended up caring about them. The show has lost all sense of complexity and is just trying to make the characters as sensationalistic and egregious as they possibly can.
To be honest, I was kinda hoping Portia wouldn't return for another season. I thought her and Julia's storyline in particular were rather offensive and mysogenistic. Portia was kind of wasted in this show. I don't think I'll watch this season. I'll just check on youtube the day after for Portia's scenes (which I don't expect to see a lot of anyway.)

Bridget: Are you really crying because you're not lesbians in real life? Is that why you cry?
Eden Riegel: Well, wouldn't that make you cry?
ooh!
used to love it as well, but i just havent felt the same pull since the Famke Janssen left the show.
my new obsession: Dexter.
Michael C Hall is fan-freaking-tastic, it's totally twisted and dramatic and graphic (and yet somehow still totally accessible - much more so than N/T), and plus, julie benz and jennifer carpenter are absolutely adorable.
