Fox gleefully unveils the start for its returning showsYou’re going to want to make sure your couch is in optimal working condition the last two weeks in September. Why? Because Fox has announced the premiere dates for its new season and you’ll probably be glued to your couch to see the network’s slate of returning hits.
The festivities kick off with back-to-back So You Think You Can Dance and Glee starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16. I don’t give a hoot about who can or can’t cut a rug but I’m filled with the aforementioned emotion about Glee’s return. It borders on cruel how Fox is making us wait and wait for fresh episodes after debuting the delightful anti-High School Musical musical’s premiere episode in May. You can yell at me through a bullhorn anytime you want, Jane Lynch.
The premiereapolooza continues at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 with a fantastic one-two night of forensic fun as Bones and Fringe. To have Emily Deschanel and Anna Torv follow each other is almost too much hot smart gal crime solving for one night. Almost.
The unexpected renewal of Dollhouse brings the series back to Friday nights Eliza Dushku and Joss Whedon continue to do that mind-erasing, brain-washing thing they do at 9 p.m. on Sept. 18.
The doctors return to House at 8 p.m. Monday Sept. 21 with a two-hour premiere. No word on whether the not-so-good doctor will still be in the but house, where we last saw him in the season finale. Does Vicodin mix well with electroshock therapy?
Fox rounds out its returning premieres with The Simpsons and Family Guy Sunday, Sept. 27 and Lie to Me Monday, Sept. 28. No word on whether Jennifer Beals will be back to reprise her role as Tim Roth’s ex.
Fox also announced the debut of the new The Wanda Sykes Show for 11 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. Anything that brings the hilarious out comic and new mother to my television screen is a good, good thing.
So, what do you think of the lineup and, seriously, is it September yet? Submitted by on June 16, 2009 - 5:00pm. |

THE WANDA SYKES SHOW?!!!!
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!
Okay, I officially CAN'T WAIT for September!!!!
Yum
Olivia Wilde... Yum... her gay episode of house was on today aswel, so fresh hottness
Eliza Dushku... Yum... she's awesome, but echo needs to do a gay episode
Emily Deschanel... Yum... she doesnt need to do a gay episode, love her
Im loving fox's line-up
I second that "Yum"...
Olivia Wilde is of the hotness as is Ms. Dushku...
As for the "gay episode" needed in Dollhouse, Dushku was saying that they proposed one, but it didn't make the first season, so they're saying it'll more than likely be in the second season. *keeps fingers crossed* Let's just hope it involves Echo!!
Echo's alright, but...
I 2nd that vote!!!
Fine by me...
gay on DH
i don't know about a gay episode, but there will be some queer characters/storylines appearing in the second season, as confirmed by Eliza herself:
http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2009/06/16/exclusive-dollhouse-star-eliza-dushku-reveals-gay-storylines-possible-cameo-by-nathan-fillion/
don't know if it'll be a one off thing or if they'll actually reveal someone we already know in the cast to be gay, but her comments are exciting!
boo computer!
posted twice? wtf?
oh well. i'll just use this space to oogle eliza.
Oh my!
Ms. Eliza is one of my favorites, has been since her Buffy days. I have issues with the show, but not with Eliza!
Not that any of the other ladies are unpleasant to look at.

Fringe, YES
Oh yes, I am counting the days already until Anna Torv, er, I mean, Fringe comes back. Actually, I really do love the show in general (I love the whole team, especially Walter's antics), Anna is of course a total bonus. She was so brilliant in Mistresses, and I'm happy for her success over here. Too bad they're moving the show from NYC to Vancouver - no more bumping into the set opportunities (they filmed near me in Brooklyn a lot).
Fringe is basically my one tv obsession at the moment - I've been watching my digital episodes constantly..so I need some new ones soon!
ye gods!
Yay!
Wanda getting her own show is great news. She's the funniest woman out there. Love her.
Ecstatic for Glee to be returning! LOVED the pilot!
Ok, I get the Echo and Sierra nominations for the Dollhouse gay episode but I propose that it involve Dr. Saunders/Whiskey (Amy Acker) and Adelle DeWitt (Olivia Williams). That would be genius and quite hot.
so right!
i'm excited all my favorite shows are returning (fringe, bones and dollhouse) and i can barely wait for more episodes of 'glee'... i LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the first episode!
and on the whole lesbian episode "issue" for dollhouse... i'm in for dr. saunders and adelle! they'd make such a hot couple and olivia williams british accent just makes me melt like butter! i'm definitly on your side with that one!!! =)
BONES!
Ah Bones is my favorite show! Only 93 days until its return... and when it does return Booth's amnesia better end immediately and Bones & Booth better be so shaken by the thought of Booth not remembering her that they get together. :)
I'm also excited for the return of Glee and Fringe!
YIPPEE!!
Waiting for Bones.. David Boreanaz is just soo dreamy.
.....fox
I LOVE FOX!!!!!
I don't know what to say, other than that I would strangle ANY animal with my bare hands for one night with either Olivia Wilde or Anna Torv. *sigh* And I love House & Fringe both because they r funny & actually make my brain get that funny tingly feeling again like I had all those years ago in high school...or was it junior high...when I actually liked learning difficult things, like big words. =) Anyway, know what channel I'll b watching...LOVE U FOX!!!
HA!
Finally!
Wanda Sykes will FINALLY be on a channel that I actually am able to get!
I was a bit so-so about Glee after seeing that pilot preview, but Jane Lynch was so funny in it, so I'm sure I'll be watching it this fall.
Glee!
YES!
house is back! i was going to be extremely pissed if they got rid of lena headly and olivia wilde.
*small typo: Sept. 16 cant be a thursday and a wednesday ; )
Bones/Fringe
Bones and Fringe premiere september 17 not 16
-SP
Yes!
Good
I love Olivia W. - hope they team her up with a girl Please. She is not just hot but; a pretty dam good actress. I like Bones good show. Can't get into the others.
As much as I love JB her role on Lie to Me is pretty dull, actually the show itself is dull - I can't see it lasting unless they do a real shake up; stop being predictable and also let JB show off some of her acting talent.
Some really good stuff on other stations, crazy about Saving Grace. The closer with a dyke; gotta love that.
Greys with a gay couple. Seems better women parts not as much exposure as I'd like but its not as dismal as it could be. I also think K Moening has a show coming on and then theres Rachel.
Seems to me that the content, writing and structure of a lot of these shows is so much better then it was. I don't know if its because people are sick of the stupid Reality(not so real) shows or there is just a flush of talent - I don't care I like it. Things are looking up!!
Gleeeeeeeee!

FOX leading the way in developing great shows with women??!!
Fox is the home of the hideously fascist FOX News, who supports and promulgates all things relating to right-wing neo-Christian conservatives, including but not limited to: rampant homophobia, misogyny, xenophobia, and is the color guard of all things evil.
That's why I find it amazing that FOX has developed so many great shows that star strong, smart and sexy female leads and secondary characters. The schizophrenic personality of this network is mind boggling.
