Tori Amos: Soon at a comics store near youAre you ready for Tori Amos: The Comic Book? The ethereal piano goddess with the Titian hair will have her songs turned into a graphic novel anthology called Tori Amos’ Comic Book Tattoo, slated for release this summer.
The project was announced in this month’s SPIN magazine, and apparently some 70 artists have already signed on to transform Tori’s deeply personal and sometimes abstruse lyrics into artwork. The 400-plus page full-color collection should be ready in time for the San Diego Comic-Con this July.
Seems Tori and editor Rantz A. Hoseley have been talking about the idea for the last 15 years. As she told SPIN, the decision to go ahead with the comic was both difficult and exciting: “Obviously, I’ll need to have a level of trust to turn over these songs to each writer. With the unknown, there can be a feeling of reticence, but that in itself can be sexy.”
Sexy? Quite possibly. Strange? Almost guaranteed. Tori’s songwriting has a fantastical quality that should lend itself well to animation. And her lyrics — which tackle everything from rape to religion, masturbation to miscarriage — certainly provide endless story fodder. Though, if I might be so bold, could I request that someone illustrate “Caught a Light Sneeze” so that maybe, finally, I’ll know what the hell Tori is singing about?

Note to self...
Totally
YES!
FINALLY! But July feels like it's SOOOO far away! I'll be, what Rotezora would deem, "a pig in sh*t."
And if you're waiting for Caught a Light Sneeze, *I'm* waiting for Hello, Mr. Zebra.
Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates. [Mark Twain]
Heeeee!
*insert fangirl squeal here*
Excitement can't begin to explain how I feel. I'm already a comic book geek (of the twisted variety, see Sandman). But, this.... this is going to be amazing.
*squeals again*

O vey, Christmas just came early
Where do I set up camp? O_O
Tori's 'peculiarity' translated into any kind of graphic is art in itself, not to mention translating her music. And I like my comics weird. Ahem peculiar. Peculiar graphic novels for the win. ;P
But what makes me
paranoidworried is the news, she's been asked to do a musical as well (sp?). I really hope it isn't hoax I'm smelling (but just the dogs).Tori's commented on that
Tori's commented on that herself. Yes, it's true, she's working on a musical. She said something along the lines of trying to be both Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
Should be interesting.

Great. :) Now I can sleep
I wouldn't go that far.
I wouldn't go that far. From what I've heard, she's not in charge of the story. The play itself is supposed to based off of some children's book about mermaids. She's just covering the musical aspect of it.
So... who knows?

Awesome to hear that, it
a chorus of angels...
I can't wait to see
Tori is a Goddess!
Eh?
"Tori’s songwriting has a fantastical quality that should lend itself well to animation" what does animation have to do with this? They are transforming her music into stories, told in a comic format, there is no animation involved.
Caught a Lite Sneeze is about...
just so ms. snarker doesn't have to wonder any longer caught a lite sneeze is about having an orgasm as said by tori herself. makes the song just that much more enjoyable don't cha think?

"But I dream of flight, not to be as the angels are, but to rise above te smallness of it all. The smallness that I am. Against the daily death the iconography of wings."
I love her
She got my vote. LOL

How fantastic!
Caught a Lite Sneeze and Rasberry Swirl are two of Tori's queerest songs and two of my favorites. Some lyrics to demonstrate:
"Boys on my left side
Boys on my right side
Oh, come on, we mustn't
Oh, come on, we mustn't forget "Hey Jupiter."
Seriously.
"Hey Jupiter
Nothing's been the same
So are you gay?
Are you blue?
Thought we both could use a friend to run to
And I thought, I wouldn't have to be
With you, something new"
"Your apocalypse was fab for a girl who couldn't choose between the shower or the bath."
