Celia asks Isabelle how to be "lesbionic" on "Weeds"Weeds is a show you probably shouldn't watch if you're the type of person who doesn't like to "go there," because, my darlings, this show not only lives there, it has redefined what "there" is — and that is why this show is so awesome. Weeds is known for its flawed characters and for pushing those flaws to the limit, but every so often, a glimmer of humanity manages to shine through their dysfunctional exteriors, except in the case of Celia Hodes (Elizabeth Perkins), who stands out from the pack by having absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
The terminally bored Celia, whose life is now on the upswing after she hatched a plan to bundle pot with makeup at her job as a cosmetics saleswoman, is looking for an outlet. That outlet has presented itself as a sexually aggressive female admirer, cosmetic line owner Raylene Reynolds (Jamie Denbo), whose signature line is, “My nipples are hard, and my lady is wet because success turns me on!” On this week's episode, when Raylene finds out that Celia has been moving mountains of her "You're Pretty" cosmetics line, she informs Celia that she is "wetter than a slaughterhouse floor" and proceeds to prove her point by grabbing Celia's hand and shoving it where the sun don't shine.
Celia, so far inexperienced in lady love, now finds herself in desperate need of advice on how to proceed, so she makes nicey-nice with her out teenage daughter Isabelle (Allie Grant), who she usually uses as a punching bag. Celia takes her out to a hair salon in order to extract information on the fine art of lesbian sex. "Tell me a little about being lesbionic," Celia says to her horrified daughter.
Not recognizing — or rather, recognizing but ignoring — Isabelle's obvious discomfort, she continues: "Was [kissing a girl] a good soft, like a puppy? Or was it a bad soft, like rotten fruit? Oh god. Oh! Am I going to have to get a strap-on?"
Later on, Celia and Raylene return from a day of shopping, whereupon they throw themselves at each other, salivating like rabid animals.
Then the ever-so-tactful Celia blurts out, "So, strap-on: How does that work?"
(Come on, Celia, don't you know you're supposed to save that for the second date?) "Don't worry honey. We'll get to that," purrs Raylene as she sashays away, leaving Celia standing alone in the hallway with a confused expression on her face.
Here's a hint, lady: It works by sticking it where you think you're supposed to stick it. It's not rocket science. So there you have it. We might see Celia and Raylene romp around with penetrative sex toys, which I expect to be a revolting train wreck. I expect nothing less, or else Weeds will have failed in its mission of perfecting the art of deliciously twisted cringe humor. |

Yep...
I watch Weeds weekly and always find myself cringing at something that happens during the course of this 1/2 hour show.
I was wondering if anyone would do a write up on this weeks episode... glad that you did Grace.
This is definitely a show that is not for everyone and even for those who watch I'm sure I am not the only one often times left shaking my head.
Poor Isabelle, having a nutjob like Celia for a Mom (and Dad isn't much better).

I didn't want to watch this
Getting on down to girly town!
Thank you!!
for saying that! Celia is completely in love with Nancy and if im not incorrect shes discussed the art of being a lesbian with Nancy before....early season 2 maybe season 1 if im not mistaken!
LOVE Celia, havent watched the show since it left Agrestic but maybe i need to start watching again....
foreshadowing
Yes, Celia asked Nancy if she had ever been with a woman. It was pretty early in Season 1 actually, so she has been curious since very early in the series. Nancy said she had in college and it was boring. Isabelle also mentioned to Shane once that she thinks her mother is in love with his mother.
In Season 4 Nancy briefly had to pretend she and Celia were a lesbian couple. I was really hoping then that the charade would go on for a while and be used as a way to explore Celia's obsession with Nancy. Nancy strikes me as 100% straight, so I don't "ship" Nancy/Celia, but it would have been funny to see Celia's reactions to having Nancy treat her as a gf in public. Unfortunately, like many storylines on the show, it was dropped before it went anywhere.
My DVR is set...
to record each and every episode of this show, and it seems like an eternity passes before the next season comes along. THere are only 2 episodes left already!!! Where does the time go? One of my favorite aspects of this show is the way time moves along. A pregancy can go from conception to delivery in just a few episodes allowing the character development to move along.
As for Celia...she's the train wreck I can't stop watching. I loved it when she was kidnapped by her daughter and her rebel boyfriend, and no one would pay the ransom for her! She shakes it off and keeps moving. Got to love her tenacity.
Weeeeeeeeeeds
I love Weeds. Or rather, I used to. I thought season 1 & 2 were so good, I'd get all giddy watching the episodes, but I kind of lost interest in the beginning of season 3. Watching this makes me think I need to rekindle that love though.
I do love Celia. She's so nasty and politically incorrect, it's hilarious. Plus, Elizabeth Perkins does such a good job at portraying Celia convincingly, who would have thought that that nice girl from Big could play such a believable witch? (spelled with a B)
She's right up there with Karen from W&G for sheer misanthropic delight.
I'll take Marie-Louise Parker over her any day of week though. *swoon*
That woman can do no wrong since Angels In America.
Funny little segment called "Good Morning Agrestic: Too Soon To Be Gay?": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG5xRhrEg3g
Same. I stopped watching
Same. I stopped watching Weeds after the first 2 Seasons as well. Celia and Marie-Louise Parker had more fun screen time together back then.
Thanks for the posting that YouTube clip. It looks like Celia was bi-curious before her Season 1 comments to Nancy.
wow
i've never seen this show and had/stillhave no idea what it's about,
but when i read this i laughed aloud. omg, everything. so funny :'D
automatic video playing
is there anyway to make it to where the video doesn't play automaticaly when you visit the page?
---------------------------------------------
~I am bisexual. You are confused.~
Afraid not.
It seems to be configured to start playing automatically on the Daily Motion website, so it'll autoplay in its embedded version here.
Why, is it freezing up your browser or something?
PS: Waaw.. You asked, and they fixed it.
Is there any way to fill my bank account with large amounts of cash and make it so that my house and car stay clean forever and ever?
Clean house and car forever?
That's it? No Invisible Cape or Universal Translator?
You are extraordinary...
Welllll...
I didn't want to seem too greedy.
I'm quite good at hiding (or so my family tells me) so the Invisible Cape is superfluous. I speak enough languages to get by in most places, and if I don't, I have my good friend FashionVictim who is quite proficient in the use of Babelfish.
Then again.. maybe I should have thrown "gay marriage for all" in there eh? Or better yet, "world peace" and "the end of poverty and famine".
Not so extraordinary after all, it seems. Is it too late to change my request? Yes? Bummer.

The things you may need are only to your understanding... Thereby, accessible to all...
(You may be someone who should be elected. Have you ever thought of that?)
Sure!
Hmmm.
'Bout time
umm yea lol
didn't expect it
Celia is a horrible mom but Elizabeth Perkins plays her so well.
I should hate this show but I don't.
Little boxes
I LOVE WEEDS. Its such a great show and Elizabeth Perkins is so wacked out and absolutely hilarious. Not to mention Mary Louise Parker :)
I'm catching up on this
I'm catching up on this season and so far I'm up to number 10, I love Celia's job adventure. Selling weed as makeup, genius! ahah
I can't wait to watch the next few episodes. Celia is a captivating train wreck&i can't wait to see what she'll do next!
XOXOX

lovve this show
Different Opinion
When Weeds first started, I thought they did a good job toeing the line between classist and not, racist and not and sexist and not...but not this season...I stopped watching the show earlier this season (after the incident with Esteban in his office) because I just couldn't stomach it anymore.
I caught this episode by accident (I was at someone else's house) and actually found the "lesbionic" aspect of the show to be pretty offensive.

I loved the first 2 seasons
i think ceila is soooooooooo
i think ceila is soooooooooo hot
her bitchiness makes her hotter
he.
as she said the word "strap on" i imagined someone from across the room, fling a dildo at Celia's head. Knocking her unconscious.
*stoned*
it's the L Weeds :)
someone on imdb called it that.
I still love Weeds, I just can't take it very seriously anymore.
But I like how they let Isabel simply be a lesbian character over several seasons now, without really commenting on it or putting a lot of drama in.
But maybe this will change now... I'm curious.
Where can I watch the whole
hahaha
the whole thing is just so hilarious..i love weeds :D
makes me happy. lol
That picture of the kiss
sigh
spoiler beware
I still faithfully watch weeds every week, but my enjoyment this season is still overshadowed by Nancy marrying Esteban, the man that raped her.
Agreed.
Love the show!
"Lesbionic" - what's that -
"Lesbionic" - what's that - a bionic lesbian?
Anyway you can watch the Elizabeth Perkins lesbian kissing scene video clip here.
Thank you
