Reese and Zooey take the leads

Both Reese Witherspoon and Zooey Deschanel have been tapped to star in some new high-profile flicks.

Oscar winner Witherspoon (looking seriously scrawny in the recent pic below) will star in the remake of the 1939 Claudette Colbert comedy Midnight. The IMDB summary describes the plot for the original thusly: "An American gold-digger finds herself penniless in Paris. But when impersonating a baroness, she finds several ways to make money. If only she can avoid stepping into the same trap she always does--falling in love with a poor man."

I know, I know. Try to contain yourselves! Just what we've all been demanding, another movie about a woman trying to marry well. What will they think of next?

The remake will be written by Michael Arndt (another Oscar winner, for penning Little Miss Sunshine).

Deschanel will star, along with Marky Mark (yeah, I still love calling him that) Wahlberg, in the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan film, The Happening. It's described as a "paranoid thriller about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity."

Reese!

Reese does have her fingers, so to speak, in other interesting fare, such as "Penelope" and "Rendition" coming up this year (August and November tentively respectively -ly). I think that Reese tends to be a daring actress, and yeah, I hate it when she goes the date movie route, but it pays for her to do the indie and blonde boundary pushing stuff that I think she's more drawn to as an actress.

I used to love Veronica's closet

Cathy Najimy is just so awesome - funny, sexy, beautiful, and NOT a Barbie doll.

Come to think of it, neither was Kirsty Ally.

Zooey...

...manages to sound tired and disinterested in EVERY movie
