Missy Peregrym joins the cast of "The Reaper"

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Missy Peregrym (Stick It) has been cast as the female lead in The Reaper, a new fall drama from The CW about a 21-year-old slacker who becomes the devil's bounty hunter. She is replacing Nikki Reed (Thirteen), who played the role in the pilot.

The character in question, Andi, is the co-worker of reluctant bounty hunter Sam (Bret Harrison); Sam, of course, has a crush on her but doesn't have the guts to ask her out. The gig doesn't really seem like a step up from Missy's current job, playing the shape-shifting Candice on NBC's Heroes, and in fact it makes me wonder: What's going to happen to Candice?

Last week I was confined to my couch while I fought off a flu bug, so I was finally able to catch up on last season of Heroes. In the season finale [spoiler warning if you haven't seen it!] Candice gets smacked around by Niki/Jessica, but I didn't think it was a mortal smacking. Now I'm not so sure ...

On the other hand, having just read the Futon Critic's rundown of the Heroes World Tour press conference, I'm now wondering if maybe Candice just isn't in the first half of Season 2. Since The Reaper has only been ordered for 13 episodes so far, it's conceivable that Missy could shoot those episodes and still have time to be in the second half of Heroes' second season. Or, let's face it: Candice isn't on-screen all that often, so maybe Missy has time to do two series at once.

All I know is, all this exposure surely is going to help Missy make it onto the AfterEllen.com Hot 100 version 2.0 in 2008. (This year she was robbed!)

she was robbed! i absolutely love her :) oh and heros... i def can say that i wish it was an FX series bc maybe, ~~just maybe,~~ her robe would have been more scandalous!

YAY!! more Missy news!

For me, this is both good news and bad news. Good news because I can get more eye-candy fixes of Missy. but bad news because I watched the preview for this new show The Reaper and it should really be called The Stinker. It's absolutely, horribly, stupid. AND it's taking the timeslot of Veronica Mars (my favourite TV show)...so I'm pissed at it and the CW.

I really hope Missy is still able to shoot episodes for Heroes, cause I love that show too.

Good news Missy is getting a more regular role.

Bad news she is the love interest of dorky Ghost Rider.

I have an inkling of hope for this show, if done right.

For me the good news is, well, obviously more Missy is always going to be good.

The bad news is they may actually lure me back to the CW with this one. I don't want to return I'm just not sure I have the will power to say no to Missy in a lead role that sounds suggestively dark and cynical.
