Paula Marshall gets nipped, tucked and killedPaula Marshall, otherwise known as foxy lesbian daughter Regina on the great-but-canceled Out of Practice, will appear in four episodes of Nip/Tuck next season as Sean McNamara's love interest. I can't think of a bigger waste of her talent — not to mention her foxiness. And that's definitely a step down in terms of costars, though almost anything would be after you've worked with Stockard Channing.
Marshall can also be seen in the upcoming film I Know Who Killed Me, which stars Lindsay Lohan and Julia Ormond and premieres July 27. What I don't know is who killed your career, Paula. Did playing a lesbian doom you to a future of mediocre shockers? I had forgotten that Marshall was also in Snoops — well, I don't think I ever managed to catch an episode of that show. But this means she's one of the lucky few who have worked with both Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly without actually being in Bound. Again, where did all that luck go?
Sarah recently shared a clip of Marshall and Rebecca Budig flirting with each other on Out of Practice. I think I'll go watch that and some other Out of Practice clips and try to feel better about Paula's career.

Erm
Scribegrrl, it's public knowledge how much you like grammar and spelling. ;o) I do, too. There's a little typo in Julia Ormond's name...
I saw Snoops, or the one season that aired on German tv. Did it even have more than one season? Anyway, I liked it because of Paula Marshall and the dynamic between her character and Gershon's.
thanks
Gosh, there was an actual "dynamic" between her character and Gershon's? Maybe I'll have to try to see Snoops now.
*grins*
Oh no. I double checked. Ah well...
And I see you've fixed Sesame Street in the other blog...
Don't understand
Didn't see her...
But, I think I saw Jessica Rose.

Hoop skirts!! (Yes, I will shamelessly plug a friend's stuff. What of it?)
Poor Paula. Despite being so
Poor Paula. Despite being so hot and cute at the same time, she is the kiss of death to tv shows. So many shows she's been on, either as a starring role or guest star have tanked or been prematuraly cancelled: Snoops, Sports Night, Out of Practice, Veronica Mars.
This is what imdb.com said "Within the last decade, she starred in six different TV shows that all were canceled in less than a season: "Hidden Hills" (2002), "Cursed" (2000), "Snoops" (1999), "Cupid" (1998), "Chicago Sons" (1997), and "Wild Oats" (1994)." Harsh.
Kiss of death may be a tad
Kiss of death may be a tad harsh, although I get exactly what you're saying. Save for Cupid, where I first fell for her, those other shows were not great ones. Even Snoops, which I watched, never really held my attention. At least PM got a husband out of it.
But, she is mos def a strong talent. I see her career echoing that of Lauren Graham. Lauren had a few clunkers but finally got a vehicle to suit her talent. Paula just has to keep on. Another so called Kiss of death actor is Christopher Gorham. Hopefully Ugly Betty has stopped that. She was great on a short lived sitcom that starred Steven Webber, where Paula played a woman pretending to be a lesbian for some article. She had Webber's character totally confused.
BTW, Xaverie, Sports Night, Veronica and Practice were very much supported by the critics but ratings were the downfall. Just rotten luck, I guess.
Show Killers
Sadly, Paula Marshall really is always mentioned as a "show killer." With the demise of Out of Practice, she now boasts seven failed series. That pretty much makes her Queen of the Quickly Cancelled.
Paula's in some pretty good company though. Carla Gugino, Geena Davis and Angie Harmon all have four strikes and Amanda Peet is now up to her third.
All it takes is one role to turn things around though. There was an actor who used to be known as the Pilot Killer, guy by the name of George Clooney. Wonder how that all worked out for him?!
