Peaches collaborates with Shunda K and brings the hits on her new album

The queen of electro-rock raunch, Peaches is back in full father-effing-effect with her latest album, I Feel Cream. My goodness, this is a fantastic album — oh goodness, I’m gonna say it — her best (SNAP!).

What makes this album the top dog of all Peaches albums in my collection, is that it is a perfect amalgam of all her previous albums. It combines the low-fi electroclash she came out with in 2000’s The Teaches of Peaches, the more perfected electro-beats of FatherF---er and some of the hard rocking sickness that made up Impeach My Bush.

If there’s one thing you can expect from a Peaches album, it’s a smorgasbord of hysterical but altogether thought provoking lyricism. This album is no different. Some of my favorites: “Show stopper, panty dropper, everybody’s favorite shocker."

Something you don’t expect, but ends up being a surprise hit is the sentimental “Lose You”, which shows Peaches vulnerable side. It’s the kind of sexy-sad song you’d expect more from The Postal Service or her old roommate Feist.

Another hit is the Shunda K (Yo Majesty) collaboaration on “Billionaire” and the Soulwax produced “Talk to Me."

Peaches is going on tour to promote this album and if there is any chance you are able to see her, do it. She is one of the most electrifying performers to hit the stage. Of course, if you’re a prude or have incredibly virginal eyes you may want to ease yourself into things by renting some soft-core porn.

And if you're not familiar with Peaches or her music, you can watch a mini-documentary about the history of the woman and artist on her website.

    Peaches

The album is amazing. She is amazing. Have seen her perform a lot of these songs live last time she was in Australia... Amazing.

My only qualm is with the song Billionair. I like the song, I really do, but at no point do I think it belongs on this album. As its own song it rocks, it just messes up the flow of the album a little and that kind of pisses me off. I can totally over look that though as this is a fantastic album.

    Peaches @ Corsica Studios

Name: AITBF presents... PEACHES dj set

What: Fresh off the back of the success of her fourth album, 'I Feel Cream', which she produced herself, alongside input from Simian Mobile Disco, Soulwax, Digitalism and Drums of Death, we are delighted to announce that Peaches only summer DJ appearance in London will be for AITBF, at the intimate, Funktion 1 equipped Corsica Studios. Fans of her electro-orientated dirty dancefloor sound will not be disappointed - she packs nothing but the latest and greatest dancefloor bombs, as well as some special tracks of her own, and those that she collaborates with.

This night will be much more than a party though, it's an all-out war. Room 1 will be going directly head to head with room 2, as the boys take on the girls for the crown of dancefloor destroyers. In the pink corner, joining Peaches, will be DJs including Miss Odd Kidd, Girlcore's Naomi//, Captain magic from the up-and-coming booty champions Peanut Butter Jelly Time and more special guests to be announced. The blue corner pulls its weight with the guys from Hot Boy Dancing Spot co-curating the room alongside Blogger's Delight. DJs on the night will be Durrr's The Lovely Jonjo with his indie-80s-electronic stylings, a special trance(!) set from Joe and Will Ask, and the discerning selections of Adventures In The Beetroot Field residents, Casper C and Stopmakingme.

It's going to be one hell of a battle. Make sure you come down and cheer on your favourite team!

Who?: Camden Based promoters, AITBF, are the collective behind the Field Day Festival, multi-venue East London event Stag And Dagger and the unforgettable Easter extravaganzas at Fabric, that pioneered the art of pitching breaking indie-rock and electronic bands alongside established DJs and curveballs from the worlds of folk, performance art and prog-rock. Amongst others, AITBF was an early launching pad for the likes of Florence and the Machine, Crookers, Filthy Dukes, Thecocknbullkid, Neon Neon, Apes and Androids and Brodinski.

Why?: Because it beats working in a bank!
