"Australia's Next Top Model" contestant comes out after the show airsSpeculation about Lola Van Vorst's sexuality began from nearly the first photograph she posed for on Australia's Next Top Model. This week she publicly came out as a lesbian, right after she came out to her mom.
"I was only hesitant about coming out on the show because of my family. I told Mum before it came out in the media. That would be a crap way to find out that your daughter is gay,” she told The Sydney Star Observer. Van Vorst was not openly gay on this season's show, but she said that the other contestants knew she was a lesbian: After the first few weeks the girls did find out on the show but I didn’t want it to be about my sexuality and didn’t want everyone to tune in because of that. The producers were really good about it but I’m sure if they knew they would have focused on that. You mean reality show producers would have exploited her sexuality for ratings? Inconceivable!
Van Vorst told the Observer that attending a Christian school is what lead to her hanging around in the closet as long as she did. She was taught that lesbians didn't get into heaven, and that scared her. I couldn’t deal with my feelings and I tried with boys but it didn’t work. I wish being gay was not an abnormal thing to society and it bothers me that people still have a problem with it — it’s upsetting.
The Top Model contestant has been in the tabloids almost constantly since she was ousted from the show. Most recently, there was a topless photo "scandal" (a former boyfriend sold some pictures of her to the paparazzi). Now she's making headlines with her public relationship with Australian model Lyndsay Anne. Looking back at her time on the show, Van Vorst laughs when she remembers the judges telling her that her walk was a little too masculine. I was a bit unco on the catwalk and yes, they did say I walked quite masculine. I wanted to say, that’s just because I’m a dyke! Van Vorst says she hopes to become a TV presenter in the future. Do any of you who watched Australia's Next Top Model think she has what it takes to succeed in the television industry? *claps in applause* good on her for coming out publicly and making it official! i always did think "hmm she's kinda gay" from the moment i first watched the show... but i was mostly thinking "wow, she's hot!!" =P haha and omg i'm so bummed that she got the boot!! i hope she does well in modelling or presenting or whatever cos i sure as hell wouldn't mind seeing more of her. YAY LOLA!

I don't know her and I usually think that realitiy show contestans have a very low half-life period, which is good in most cases!
But just for that hilarious line about walking masculine she deserves to stick around a little longer, it just cracked me up!! Sometimes I'd love to say the same thing to people but I hardly ever have the guts to do so...

Interesting news...Lola was always my favourite right from the start! She's smoking hot and she had a cheeky and seductive attitude. She made me laugh when she stole Cassy's lines for the Mabeline commercial. Ahahahah

I don't know her, but from what I understand her name is Van Vorst, not Van Worst as it's spelled in this article. It sounds Dutch, but 'worst' means sausage in Dutch and it seems like a really weird name...

I always thought she was the hottest this season. Extra hot points for being gay and out! I wonder if Ruby knew? She was on the judging panel when Lola got kicked out, but she wasn't happy about the decision.

Actually yes is the answer as she was the ONLY one on the show this season who had that X factor.
You could just see her walking the red carpet at the big events.
So yes I think she has a legit shot at making it as a star.

Lola was the best Model of this season by far. It's such a shame she was eliminated so close to the end. I didn't actually tweek that she was gay until she was eliminated, when she removed a picture from the wall of her kissing another girl.
She is one gorgeous lipstick lesbian, and I just love her! GO LOLA!
Ruby also was on the panel when she was eliminated. When asked if she was happy with who was being eliminated, she said she wasn't..but she was going to have to go with the other judges :(

Lola's stealing Cassi commercial line was freaking hilarious! I would have felt sorry if that were anyone else but Cassi is such a bogan that I didn't care much. It was quite a b1tch move by Lola but was totally gold entertainment :D. I checked some message boards and ironically people ranked Lola's photo at no. 1 or 2 for the week she was eliminated. AusNTM is catching up with ANTM in terms of crappy eliminations.

i watched this interview on the AusNTM website asking her "whos your celebrity crush?" and instantly she said "angelina jolie...... or um .. matthew mcconaughey.. hes a babe..." ahaha it was so funny. like she realised they probably wanted her to say a guy. it woulda been filmed right at the beginning so long b4 she came out. she was defs one of my favs :)

She was my favourite on the show from the start. I thought she was funny and I liked that she wasn't as stick skinny as the other girls although she was kind of a bitch! I think we will be seeing more of her. At least I hope so :)
