"Chuck" gets a full-season pickup and a January premiere

Writing for AfterEllen.com these last few months has been like standing in a post-apocalyptic, Leno-strewn wasteland of nothingness, as blogger after blogger has gloated over the return of her TV girlfriend to the fall schedule. All my feelings of dystopian loneliness shifted last night, though, when NBC finally announced that Chuck will return in January, with a three-hour, two-night geek-fest of Buymoria proportions!

Welcome back, Sarah Walker.

Chuck's comeback from last year's cancellation bubble is now the story of TV legend.

To summarize: NBC was like, "Meh." And the fans and critics were all, "Wait, what?" And NBC was like, "Leno, duh." And the fans and critics were all, "You cannot be serious." And NBC was all, "Yeah, but we are." And the fans and critics took to Twitter and Facebook and Subway like the Nerd Herd hopped up on SweetTarts and Rush's "Tom Sawyer."

NBC finally renewed Chuck for a lame 13 episodes at some to-be-disclosed time in the future. Then a few weeks ago, they picked up another nine episodes. And that brings us to last night, when crazy-cute Zach Levi delivered this message of thanks to the fans, along with a clip from the forthcoming season and a premiere date:

January 10th, 2010!

Is it a coincidence that the binary code for "StuntDouble's girlfriend" has the sequence "01.10.10" in it three times? I don't think so!

(Oh, sorry; did you think you could out-geek me?)

Here's how it's going down: Chuck will return on a Sunday night with two episodes, and then it will slide into its regular time-slot on Monday with another episode. That is three hours of my girlfriend, Yvonne Strahovski, on your TV in two days.

There is a God, and that God loves nerds.

How excited are you that Chuck is finally coming back?

So excited. Love the show. I was worried when I didn't see it this fall. Now almost all is right with the world.

SN: I'm disconnecting my phone for those three hours.

Woo Hooooo!

I hadven't even watched the "last" season of Chuck 'cause I was so depressed that they took it off the air. Will be heading to the video store soon.

Now if we could get NBC to bring back Life to replace one of their other crappy shows like Mercy or Trauma or...

Glad to see NBC

is at least willing to listen to fans and admit when they're wrong... sometimes.  I just started watching Chuck and it does seem like a good show.  I'm a fan of Friday Night Lights and was relieved when they found a way to keep that show on the air as well.

And StuntDouble.... "Is it a coincidence that the binary code for "StuntDouble's girlfriend" has the sequence "01.10.10" in it three times? I don't think so!
(Oh, sorry; did you think you could out-geek me?)"

Hee.

Cannot wait. I don't know

Cannot wait. I don't know why this show is so underappreciated! @Sparky: OMG Friday Night Lights is amazing. That is also another underrated show. It had me at the first note of the theme song!

Uh...and, how would this tie into AE?

As much as I like Chuck, and I do like Chuck, I read the article to the end expecting to hear of a female character who was a lesbian, bisexual, or even just a tad bi-curious, but ah....nope.  Has AfterEllen.com just become a website to talk about female entertainers in general?  My understanding of the name of this website is how the entertainment industry has evolved, or not, after Ellen Degeneres came out, to include more lesbian and/or bisexual characters in TV and movies.  I don't come around often, so maybe I missed the change in venue.

Brilliant.  I love this

Brilliant.  I love this show, the 2nd season just finished here in the UK a few weeks ago and I've been waiting with bated breath to see if the 3rd season was definitely going ahead.  Yvonne is stunning and I think Zach is actually quite cute too.  They make a brilliant double act and the show is a dream for my geek wife and I.  Thanks for letting us know.
