Fox gives us extended "Glee"

The following is a recipe for creating the best TV show preview ever.

Ingredients:

A legitimate choir that blends magical harmony and complex choreography with Amy Winehouse lyrics:

A milquetoast band of singing misfits in want of a benefactor:

And a bellicose Jane Lynch ridiculing people with a bullhorn:

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together; sprinkle with authentic banter; add ample Lynch in a track suit; toss in a little REO Speedwagon, Les Miserables, Aretha Franklin, Grease and the anthem of all hopers everywhere: Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'." Serve on the internet.

That is just what Fox did yesterday when they released the extended preview of their new fall show, Glee.

We know that the show's pilot episode has garnered rave reviews from critics, who are calling it "fresh" (even though the promo feels a little High School Musical-y); that it will feature a gay teenage glee club member/football star; and that the pilot will air after the American Idol finale on May 19. That alone has left us feeling practically giddy. This new trailer (with ample Lynch-ian goodness) just adds to our, er, glee.

Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think.

If there were a channel that aired Jane Lynch hurling down insults like Zeusian lightning bolts, I'd watch it non-stop. This seems like the next best thing.

Oh my goodness.  I don't think I've ever been this excited about a show promo... My favorite genre is comedy AND I love musicals. And Jane Lynch. And good, witty dialogue? This is why I come to afterellen.com. ;)

    Feeling up boobs in GLEE.

I didn't notice it at first, but upon my second viewing of GLEE I did see "Rachel", played by Lea Michelle, fondle the Asian girl's boobs during "You're the One that I Want"; not that she was singing the song to her.

I rewound that moment a few times, after wiping my eyes, to make sure I saw what I saw and that it made it past the FCC censors.  And yes, ladies, for the first time in TV history, there is boob-fondling on Network TV.

It does remind me of High

It does remind me of High School Musical but it seems like something I'd watch.  Jane Lynch has already won me over on her character.  Can't wait for the premiere!

Oh, I am so very excited for this. I love musical theater, and laughing, so I can't see how this could possbibly go wrong. Also, I think it's about time something comes along that could wipe this earth of the bad memory that is High School Musical - or atleast diminishes it.

I have yet to see a movie or tv show with Jane Lynch in it that I didn't like.  I think she is so talented and hilarious. I'm definately going to watch this show.

    Lea Michelle

I've seen Lea Michelle as Wendla in "Spring Awakening" and as Eponine in "Les Miserables
, and she is fucking amazing. Watching her singing "On My Own" at the Hollywood Bowl one one of the most amazing musical moments I've experienced.

I'm quite excited for this show--musicals=life.

ive seen it and it's awesome!

my bestie currently works for the show under ryan murphy, and he brought the pilot over a few months back. Lea Michelle is fantastic, as is Jane Lynch, and the rest of the cast is totally charming. The end scene where they belt out Don't Stop Believing? my friend ripped it, and we drove all around town blasting it with the windows down while we sang at the top of our lungs =)

watch this show! and tell your friends!

i would watch this but not high school musical. never.

Only found out about this show today.

I loved (and still do!) Murphy's "Popular" so I'd watch this even without all the musical goodness!

Plus, I liked HSM. So having a less tweeny version of it will be awesome!
