Don't remember how heavy it is, but it is made of synthetic material or leather and is a bit smaller and a bit harder than a soccerball. And the goalkeepers normally have a few bruises after a match, despite being allowed to wear training pants and sweaters to protect them.
But if you get hit in the head from a direct shot, it's going to hurt, since the girls with the hardest shots throw the ball at over 100km/h, so it might give you a bloody nose/eye/lip and/or cause you to black out.

LA vs San Antonio
The clash of the titans, so far this is turning out to a be good game for the battle of the west. It's on NBA live right now. What team does everyone see making it to the finals? I'm thinking LA and Detroit.
The game just ended with LA winning 58 to 53. That was an extremly good game. It was constant back and forth back and forth. Both teams played well considering the tough defense that was being played on both sides. Looking forward to the game Sunday on ABC should be a good one. Hope yall have fun at the game.

well just because you guys seemed to get a kick out of the insanity of the russian coach (as did my mother who now wants to "kick him in the face") i am wondering if you have seen the youtube clip of the norwegian girls' reactions to what he says to his own players during a game.. if not then i shall provide you with a link because it is not to be missed! .. be sure to read the translations in the comments section .. i mean the guy apparently tells the referee to f*** his own mother and thats not even the worst of it... im pretty sure that constitutes workplace violence : |

That is ridiculous! I just assumed he was yelling like American football coaches yell...they always look like they're about to have an aneurysm but they aren't saying anything particularly bad. I can't believe he gets away with that stuff.

No, this guy calls his players 'fucking goats' and asks them if they need a hit to the head, and worse things :S
Apparently he's supposed to be a big cuddly bear when he's not coaching them during matches or training though. But he thinks handball is a man's game and generally just has a very outdated view of women in general(essentially they belong in the kitchen). He knows his handball though. He would not be able to coach a Norwegian team at all, they'd never stand for this kind of treatment. But the Russian girls love him in their own way I think. It's just hard for us to understand.
Big difference from the Norwegian coach (only female coach who coaches a big time National Team and she has won all three major championships with the NT), who loves these girls, and in addition to coaching them, takes an interest in their education and makes sure they're doing well personally.

LA vs Minnesota
It's halftime and it's tied 37 to 37, and already I see what the problem is for LA...not enough players are scoring the same amount of points, aside from their top two players Leslie and Parker. For Minnesota most of their team is scoringaround the same amount of points which could win them the game in the end.
Sparks win it 82 to 58 via amazing defense and the rest of the team stepping their game up. Can't wait for the LA San Antonio re-match it's gonna be good. Also what is in the water at the University of Tenn. b/c they put out amazing players....just look at bobbit spencer and parker of the sparks. Maybe coach Pat. being at their last game lit a fuse.

I agree with you on her given Parker a run for her money. Which I think she will next season if she's healthy hopefully. I think that Fowles is a better player for the 5 position then Parker hands down and even though I know Lauren Jackson is good after watching her go up against Fowles in the gold medal game...made me think there is a new queen of the 5 position in the league.
As far as the Chi franchise goes I can see Fowles and Dupree taking the Chi next year to at least being ranked number 3 for the east.

i think we have to wait till both Fowles and LJ are both completely healthy before deciding whose better there lol....either way i'm gonna probably say LJ is better ;)
i can't wait to see that team next season. it'll be great. just sucks cause they were supposed to do much better this year, but fowles was injured for pretty much the intire season

and hopefully the wait will be worth it. I'm gonna miss Lauren Jackson and Leslie going at it though when Leslie retires, lets hope LJ comes back for playoffs and they still get to go at it. Now it's time for sleep.

now the Phoenix game is very interesting b/c they need to keep winning to have a chance in any form of playing in the playoffs, and they are up against a very good team so....... should be a good game.
How about the LA game tonight against SAN and whe finally get to see the newest member of LA play, and with her I predict a block fest via LA.
Can't wait to see how the Storm do in the playoffs, b/c they are going. Sue Bird has been beyond amazing lately especially with that win the other day against CHI and they were loosing by alot at one point.
