I don't want to wait: Life after "Dawson's Creek"

Life after Dawson's Creek has proven difficult for Dawson himself. It seems James Van Der Beek hasn't done much in the way of film or regular TV to follow-up his leading role in the hit WB series. However, his former cast mates have all moved on, and this fall, they are appearing on both the small and big screens.

Katie Holmes, "Joey"

Holmes infamously married Tom Cruise and birthed baby Suri to much fanfare, but as far as her professional life goes, this month she's trying her hand at Broadway as part of the cast of All My Sons. The show doesn't open until Sept. 18, but with the company she's keeping (her co-stars are John Lithgow, Patrick Wilson and Dianne Weist), it seems like a good career move for Dawson's former BFF/lover.

Joshua Jackson, "Pacey"

The default bad boy of the Creek, Jackson plays a good guy on the new J.J. Abrams series, Fringe. But one thing his character has in common with his former role? Sarcastic humor and wit. The best of both teen drama and science-fiction worlds!

Michelle Williams, "Jen"

Williams' personal life has been almost as public as Holmes' since the untimely death of her ex-beau, Heath Ledger, last winter. However, the focus will hopefully return to her acting skills this fall with two new films that debuted at Cannes to positive reviews last May.

Perhaps I'm being too hard on Van Der Beek. He did appear on one episode of Ugly Betty last year, and one episode of How I Met Your Mother this year. Maybe his career will start to pick up once everyone reminisces about the rest of the cast and all of the moves they've made since 2003. If not, he'll always have Varsity Blues.

As a massive Dawson's Creek

As a massive Dawson's Creek fan I've been keeping up with the casts careers since the end of the show. I was so happy to see James Van Der Beek on Ugly Betty last year and I do hope things pick up for him.

As for Katie Holmes...I still haven't forgiven her for marrying Tom Cruise. Michelle Williams is brilliant in my mind and I can't wait to see where her career goes. I am slightly in love with her. Just a bit.

Joshua Jackson is a very

Joshua Jackson is a very talented actor not to mention intelligent as well, he was in the film bobby 2 years ago i think which did pretty well. He has done a lot of independent films and he could become one of the greats. Katie Holmes really sold her soul, I was such a fan of hers but when Dawsons creek went bad, joey got more annoying and so did Katie after Dawsons creek, she was perfect as Joey but not so great in other roles. I hope Michelle Williams makes some good choices when it comes to new films as she has great talent. James did direct a film as well, he is very careful in picking characters he wishes to play but I´m sure we havent seen the last of him.

Michelle Williams is intirguing

Read this intriguing interview with Michelle Williams (see link). She's about to have 4 of her films coming out soon, mostly indies. Which means catching some of her work at film festivals, not the multiplexes. I think she's one of those smart young women actors who are doing interesting work and bares keeping an eye on. Like Rachel McAdams, like Ellen Page.

Just HAD to comment...

...on this blog!  How ironic that I had a Dawson's fix this weekend, watched all of season one and part of season two on DVD, and this nifty little blog pops up today!  Like many others, I swooned the first time I saw Katie Holmes in the commercials for this new teen show on the WB.  I fell in love instantly and I was hooked from day one!  Nobody DARE call me on Wednesday nights while DC was on!  My heart broke when Dawson's dad (The Flash) died by falling ice cream cone and it was overjoyed when Joey and Pacey sailed away on the "True Love"!  I've tried to keep up with the Creekers and, like everyone else, was dissapointed when Katie (oh wait...we're supposed to call her Kate now) sold her soul to "Maverick".

Oh DC...how I miss thee!

joey, pacey, jen, dawson.

You know I have every season of that show, that Joey Potter was a hottie. I am glad to see that they are still going for the gold.  I mean i didn't see that stupid movie with Katie Holmes in it that came out last year, it had Diane Keaton and something to do with money, that looked awful. But how hot was she in the movie Go. And Michelle Williams was wicked in that Bob Dylan film I'm Not There. And as for poor James, I still love the guy besides he was sorta cool in Rules of Attraction. well good luck to them.

James Van Der Beek

He was in 2 episodes of Criminal Minds in 2007. He played Tobias - "Tobias was systematically abused by his Bible-obsessed father Charles, killed the fiend but developed a split personality, including his father's abusive one as Raphael, an angel of violent 'divine' vengeance." (From IMDB). He did a really brilliant job.

And I'm sure Katie Holmes used to be able to think for herself, which is when I still sort of liked her, and then she married that dropkick Cruise. 'Nuf said.

Jack

What ever happened to the actor who played him? I thought that was a ground-breaking character and it didn't hurt that he had beautiful eyes. I know, I know, in real life he was kinda a jerk but I assumed he'd have a post-Dawson career which didn't seem to materialize.

And running counter to popular lust, I thought Michelle Williams was the hottie of the group, especially with that great hair style in the first season. I'm crap for finding photos but I'm sure they're out there somewhere. I always thought that they toned down Ms. Williams so she would not over-shadow Katie Holmes who was supposed to be the love interest.

But unfortunately for Ms. Holmes, on the Creek as in Real Life - it's the bad girls who are the hottest. It's ALWAYS the bad girls.

God bless ' .em
