With all the lesbian and bisexual medical personnel popping up on television around the world — including Melissa George joining Grey's Anatomy as a bisexual intern next month — we thought we'd count down some of the hottest lesbian or bi medical doctors on TV.

This isn't an exhaustive list, and it doesn't include lesbian psychiatrists, nurses, or paramedics, it's just our take. Feel free to offer your opinion in the comments (and we know you will!).

1. Dr. Remy Hadley, aka "Thirteen" (Olivia Wilde) — House M.D. (Fox)

She might be drugged out, on death's door, and doing her best to live up to the "bisexuality = promiscuity" stereotype, but Thirteen is still sex on a stethoscope.

If you don't know why, you clearly haven't seen this.

2. Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) — Grey's Anatomy (ABC)

Although the writers are dangerously close to ruining the story line about her burgeoning romantic relationship with Dr. Hahn, surgical resident Callie is still one of the hottest probably-queer doctors around.

Why? Duh, it's Sara Ramirez! 'Nuff said.

3. Dr. Macarena "Maca" Wilson Fernández (Patricia Vico) — Hospital Central (Spain)

This pediatrician married her wife, Esther, in the first lesbian wedding on Spanish TV; had a child with her, and then a sperm donor; divorced her and had a relationship with psychiatrist Vero; and now she's the head of the ER on this popular primetime Spanish TV series.

Keeping up with her love life is exhausting — and we love every minute of it.

4. Dr. Regina Barnes (Paula Marshall) — Out of Practice (CBS)

Regina's acerbic wit, life's-too-short attitude, and winning way with women made this short-lived comedy about a family of doctors stand out.

Paula Marshall is hot. Funny is hot. Smart is hot. Still not convinced? Watch this compilation of scenes between Regina and her mother (played by Stockard Channing).

5. Dr. Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith) — Grey's Anatomy (ABC)

A power player at Seattle Grace who scares everyone who works for her, Erica has always been an acquired taste.

Recently, Erica's romantic relationship with Dr. Callie Torres has shown us her softer side, and we love it. But even hotter? On the job, Dr. Hahn is still as tough as ever.

6. Dr. Charlotte Beaumont (Tammy Macintosh) — All Saints (Australia)

On the Australian drama series, Dr. Beaumont was dragged into a sexual harassment suit after she refused an advance from a female co-worker. Despite her obvious good looks and charm, she was able to use the truth to get out of it.

We forgive her for a drunken night of hooking up with a dude, but we're still trying to work past the idea she got knocked up.

7. Dr. Maggie Doyle (Jorja Fox) — ER (NBC)

Before she joined CSI, Jorja Fox showed up as the new lesbian intern in the emergency room — in 1996, before lesbian doctors were all the rage on American TV.

Eventually becoming a doctor on staff, Doyle's sexuality never became more than minor factor on the show, but her unabashed outness — and feminism — was hot. Too bad she only lasted a few seasons.

8. Dr. Marina Ranieri del Colle (Alessia Barela) — Terapia d’urgenza (Italy)

The beautiful lesbian pediatrician certainly made an impression on Italy's version of Hospital Central.

Marina converted her own Esther (Elisabetta Rocchetti), kissing her passionately in an elevator, in front of a male nurse, in Italy's first ever lesbian TV kiss — making that guy's day, and ours. The show was promptly canceled. (Just a coincidence, I'm sure.)

9. Dr. Liz Cruz (Roma Maffia) — Nip/Tick (FX)

As an anesthesiologist, Dr. Cruz puts people to sleep. As a hot lesbian in the office, she puts herself in between Julia and Olivia, causing some trouble.

We deemed her hotter after Season Five, when she dumped nit-picky Poppy (Alanis Morisette) — seriously, Liz, you don't need any work! — and got past the "I'm a lesbian with a partner, let's reproduce" phase.

So that's our list! As you might have noticed, it's fairly "white" (besides Sara Ramirez, obviously) — we tried to find more prominent lesbian TV doctors of color, but came up empty. If you know of any, please leave them in the comments!
