I love U People

I think I never commented, but I thought it was about time to let you know I love this vlog and try to watch every episode. The guests, the jokes, the music, the editing: it's all great!

I'm following the race for the US elections quite closely and it perplexes me how much racism, sexism and homophobia play a role. I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was THAT bad. Guess I was very lucky to be born in the Netherlands..

By the way, it's true that Europe is ready to embrace Obama. Sometimes I think it would be best if we could have vote in this election too, just as an advice to American voters.

U People!!!

Great episode.  I found the discussion on Palin's body language very informational. When Obama spoke at the 2004 DNC I remember thinking "hey, I want to vote for him!".  What cracks me up about the McCain surrogates and supporters is that they claim he is a radical far left liberal socialist/marxist commie.  He is definitely not far left.  He is actually quite centrist, but the neocons and religious right have pulled the country so far to the radical right that they can't see that.  I never thought I would see our country be defined by domestic warrantless spying, torture, pre-emptive war, illegal detention, military kangaroo courts and politicization of our Justice Department, but that is where we are now.  We are three days away from turning this train wreck around, and I just have to say, everyone, please please please VOTE!  Don't take anything for granted.

LIZA PETERSON

Loved the discussion ladies. Liza P was off the chain, she reminded me of Wanda Sykes. Homegirl definitely needs her own talk show.

Bless.

That it!

I got that vibe too, especially with the Scooby-doo comment - I was cracking up at that point!

That was a great discussion

That was a great discussion - serious, but with plenty of humour too. You're right to say race is a no-brainer factor in this election. Some of the stuff getting circulated against Obama on the internet makes my skin crawl. I must say I don't know anyone personally in the UK who would back John McCain. I will be watching with baited breath on election day hoping that Obama will win.

You've got my vote on the video :) I loved the music and thought the message was really powerful.

The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes, but don't be afraid...

I Voted Early for OBAMA!!!!

Yay!!!  I made history!!!

Liza is right:  Republicans are racists and Trig is Sarah Palin's grandson.

There is no place, but Obama!

That statement is priceless: " What letters do you see when you look into Barack's eyes"??!!

I'm a volunteer for the Obama campaign, and yesterday, someone who claimed to be  "undecided" told me, after a 15minute conversation in which he was agreeing with all my points, he told me that he was fearful of what could happen to Barack - from the right-wing Nazi-groups, and that he believes Barack will be 'tested' when he is elected...but John is 'safe'

When I asked him what he meant by 'tested' and wouldn't John be 'tested' too? He assured me he wasn't racist, but just thinks even with all the benefits of Barack and the democratic ticket, John is the 'safe' bet!!!!!!

I'm constantly amazed about how people excercise what I perceive as their racism. The other day, I heard a woman on NPR who used to be a solid Clinton supporter, but after McCain brought Palin, she became a solid McCain supporter?? How do you as a solid democrat who supports Hillary, now support the republican ticket because a woman has been brought on as V.P., a woman who is nowhere near the level of Hillary?  Another lady on NPR said she switched to McCain after she saw how the media treated Clinton, and was starting to treat Palin??!? What?

I don't agree with the comment that black republicans hate themselves. I've heard that same comment about gay republicans...and I have to say that for the same reason that republicans are republicans, (supposedly wanting smaller government, wanting more state control, lower taxes, etc.), I can see how it can appeal to people of all different races, sexualities, and genders. I don't agree with these, and I believe they change it when it suits them, as we've seen recently.

I can't believe I'm defending this woman, but I don't think you can blame Palin for using her sex appeal - it works, she knows it. And based on her history with beauty pageants, it may be ingrained at this point - she probably doesn't even realise what she is doing at this point.

I also have to say that I don't think the comments about her private life are warranted. Lets not pass judgement about her personal family life and choices. Whatever the problems or the truth is, its what it is. There is plenty to talk about with respect to her professional resume, and her natural inability to communicate intellectually - lets focus on those instead of sinking to the level of gossiping about her personal life choices.

Love your video blogs - always give us something to gnaw on! GO VOTE people!

Towards?

I'm constantly amazed about how people excercise what I perceive as their racism.

Racist towards whom? There are actually white people who are scared of radical white people. I've heard a few white people say they're afraid that Obama will be assisinated. Ironically the fear some white people have is a fear of racism itself, and that has been around longer than anyone realizes. Although, I'm sure it won't be taken seriously.

Towards anybody

 Racism is racism.

Neither of these statements make sense to me, and its my perception that they are both racist:

Statement1:"I don't want a biracial or black president, and so I'm going to vote for the white "safe" option"

Statement2: "I don't care if I have a biracial or black president, but I think there are other radical haters who will try to harm him because he is black, therefore I'll vote for the white "safe" option"

We can live in fear, imagining the worst, and make our life decisions that way, but hate is hate - and there have been other white 'safe' options that have also been assasinated or attempted to be. Here's a better statement:

Optimal statement: "I am voting for the best team for the white house and I'll do what I can to communicate my concern to the government to protect my/our investment"

Uh how can a McCain be a

Uh how can a McCain be a "safe bet" anyway? Come on, we don't even know he'll survive a single term.

Not that that's the real issue, I think, you're right Ms. Ghana.
