Gal Pals: "90210" develops a lesbian storyline and "Cracks" makes lesbians look crazy (Episode 25)This week, Emily and I give props to Charlize Theron for being so girl-friendly and get psyched for the opening of Precious this Friday. Also, we're scared of Eva Green's lesbian stalker film, Cracks, and hopeful for 90210's gay storyline. Plus, the news of a new celesbian couple. Check back next week for another episode of Gal Pals. i knew it!
since rachel was always in the kitchen. lucky rachel. im not jealous. ahem.
seriously, you should apply to oprah, trish.
antichrist is a different bag of fish to cracks i reckon.
Nuh-uh!
Rachel Cantu and Liz Feldman? That is a nice bit of gossip. Totally didn't see that coming.
I keep forgetting to bum Precious from one of my friends. Looking forward to the film, as well.

Cracks
When you saw the trailer of cracks here on Afterellen and read that it will be cliche like: loving annabel etc. its not like that at all. Its about friendship, jealousy actually about being a teenage girl at a boarding school.
yes the teacher does get obsessed with the student ( Fiamma ) but its for a whole different reason, its because she sees something in Fiamma which she wish she was herself. And all the other students are fawning over her, while Fiamma spend no time at all trying to get on her good side.
the book is actually quite good, even though the book doesn't go into depth of the character's personalities, Desires etc. if you stop thinking about the whole '' lets make the lesbian an crazy obsessed pedophile '' ( as you put it ) but just a human being you will see the movie in a totally different perspective. People always think that these kind of movies will give us a bad name or something.
btw the role Eva Green picked was quite wise . its not a very easy roll to play so she will get more respect because of it.
I'll still see Cracks
But I think shows like "Gimme Sugar" Do us worse damage as far as visibility is concerned. Reality television for me is nothing but trash. While Cracks will be taking as just a movie and mostly the people seeing it will know its just the character and a storyline. of course, I haven't seen it yet and my opinion might change.
And I second going on Oprah Trish. You work for AE, how could she not (a)effect your life?
Friendship follows Fearlessly. Never Blindly. Never Lightly.
excellent point
Which is my point in total
And its scripted. No party promoter ever reveals their secrets to a worker until its done because of the fact they can get backdoored very easily. The cast are also ruthless and without empathy. Save one. IMHO. You have someone new in the midst and you make them feel so unwelcome with Sayeh.
Friendship follows Fearlessly. Never Blindly. Never Lightly.
when i read the recapps
i was thinking "what kind of shit is this?". and yes, most of them seemed horrible.
lots of people seem to be saying cracks promotes or excuses paedophila and abuse but i dont think that at all. it doesnt look like a happy ending for anyone in the film
Look at the movie The Reader
it has an underage story in it. But that happens all the time in literature and movies. I'm okay with that. I love Loving Annabelle and most people have listed it under their favorite movies (generalization I know) But it speaks to younger and older audience about the dangers of love and is a metaphor for how we have been criminalized and hunted in society.
Friendship follows Fearlessly. Never Blindly. Never Lightly.
Liz and Rachel
Not surprised about it. Rachel was soooooooooooooooo many times in the kitchen of "TJO"!! So I saw it coming :)
God put a limit to everything except STUPIDITY!!
hahah trish "ooh caught my
hahah trish "ooh caught my ear, i'll read it" - my thoughts exactly!
i didn't know precious was so queer-friendly... i have wanted to see it since i heard of it bc mariah is in it!! it looks amazing and terribly sad but i am definitely going to see it!
i still wanna be emily's bff.
love my gal pals!
I will watch 'Cracks'.. not
I will watch 'Cracks'.. not because I'm drawn to pedophile storylines or anything ..(which I'm NOT).. but more Eva and the, I suppose.., intrigue of why she's chosen to do this role!?
Eva
its a good story
Hmm, well yes! The story
Hmm, well yes! The story must of had something about it that drew her in to wanting to 'act it out'.. i.e the 'other elements' of complexity to the 'character' that were not just about how she felt for this 'girl/child'.
I suppose this is now cue for me to go and read the book before watching.
CAN I JUST SAY...
Liz and Rachael
I saw them the next night!
They were together all night it was really cute, unexpected though!
edit: that was supposed to be a reply to you ^ I just forgot to actually put it as a reply, I always do that!
Overrated
Im sure this new Cracks film isn't as upsetting and bad as it seems. Take Hard Candy for instance TOTALLY overrated it was sooo lame, they made it out to be controversial and disturbing and it was like snore central (love ellen though). Antichrist wasn't as disturbing as i thought either, its was meh.
Getting off topic...no offense but folks in the US are more conservative, when it come to film and tv shows, then other counties, wouldnt you agree?
really?
liz and reachel yeah i kinda knew it aswell , but at the same time I was like really? coz i just saw them as friends and i didn't (couldn't ) think they were each other types so i can't explain myself
cracks : maybe i will see it and yeah it actually looks creppy but whatever is Eva haha
awsome ep as always see u next week gals
ciao
