We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1 Finale, "Limb From Limb"

It's the final episode of Season One of The L Word, and the stage is set for even more drama to come in Season Two (and all of those that follow).

Bette and Candace check into a motel (and probably should never check out), then Tina figures it all out and goes nuts. A heartbroken Shane gets the big boot from Cheri, and Alice makes a midnight confession to Dana. Meanwhile, Jenny watches Gene and Robin sleep. Will they still be sleeping when Season Two begins? If they are, the arrival of Ms. Carmen de la Pica Morales should wake their asses up. (I speak from personal experience!)

It's also the final episode of WGN. We've kept our little v-log running for over a year and have had the privilege of being joined on the sofa by some amazing women, including Liz Feldman, Maile Flanagan, Maeve Quinlan, Jane Lynch, Elizabeth Keener, Bridget McManus, Mandy Musgrave, Coley Sohn and Meredith Scott Lynn. We send them each a tip of the hat for gracing us with their presence and having the good humor (but perhaps not the good sense) to go along with our antics.

Most importantly, we would like to thank the WGN viewers who have been so kind as to loyally watch each week, send us comments and make some pretty amazing tribute videos.

Lastly, we apologize to everyone we mocked in our re-enactments. Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. (And if you believe that, then Bette is taking bids for a new contracting job and would love to talk to you about your, ahem, "specs.")

When considering our final episode, Dara Nai specifically wanted to say, "I thought of Oscar Wilde's deathbed quip, "Either those curtains go or I do." As a gay writer, there's really no topping that. Plus, we may be going nowhere, but we're not dead.

Thanks to all the fans who noticed every last, weird bit of minutia; raced to leave the first comment, before they've even watched the episode; gave cheers and jeers to our shirts, our hair, our beverages and our pets; and gave us big love for doing something that was way too much fun.

In the immortal last words of Sylvia Plath, "I can fix this oven."

So thanks for the memories, and watch the last episode here now...

Dara & Karman's Hit List: "Favorite Co-eds" (Episode 1)

Last May, when AfterEllen.com Editor-in-Chief Sarah Warn was shooting video of some of the AE vloggers waxing poetic about the women on the AE Hot 100 List, she grabbed my fellow writer/vlogger Dara Nai and me, stuck a fake guitar and drumsticks in our hands, and told us to opine about some of your favorite celebrities.

We were reminiscing about this recently over a session of Rock Band, and decided that we needed a reason to do it all over again. Thus, Dara & Karman's Hit List was born.

So each week, until we run out of random topics, Dara and I will sit down in front of the camera with our plastic instruments, fire up the lava lamps, and share with you lists of a few of our favorite things. These topics will include films, women, TV, women, music, women, or women.

In honor of the back-to-school season, our first episode is devoted to the most memorable co-eds from some of our favorite films and TV shows. Whether they wear plaid skirts, seduce their teachers, or pack some government-issued heat, we give all of the women on our list "A's" for effort.

The theme song is "Seven" by Vagiant — check them out at MySpace.com/vagiantboston — and of course, the awesome graphics were made by Kayla Jones. You can also hit us on our MySpace pages at MySpace.com/KarmanKregloe and MySpace.com/bad_machine.

Let us know in the comments who you'd put on your list, as we believe in continuing our own education.

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1, "Locked Up"

In the latest episode of WGN, Jill Bennett, Dara Nai and Karman Kregloe discuss why manatees are like Reform Jews, why Bette is stupid to get upset at protesters, and why Robin should have run like hell after her first date with Jenny.

They also re-enact the famous "wallgasm" prison scene between Bette and Candace. This one's not to be missed!

Watch it here now...

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1 "Looking Back"

Recapping this week's episode of The L Word, Jill, Dara and Karman discuss why Dinah Shore is much crazier than it's depicted in this episode; why road trips are fun; and why sometimes it's best not to go to great lengths to save money.

Plus: why Toxic Tonya is also tasty; why Karman was a "hundred-footer" as a child, and if it's possible to tell a dog lesbian vs. a cat lesbian.

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1 "Liberally"

In the latest WGN episode, our intrepid vloggers discuss the price of having a benefactor, why they liked Helen Shaver better in Desert Hearts, and the bad idea that was Dana and Jenny hooking up (re-enactment included).

Plus, they debate whether having a good hair day is enough justification to leave the house.

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1 "Luck, Next Time"

Dara, Jill and Karman discuss the dramatic end of Jenny and Marina's relationship, the fabulous chemistry between Kate Moennig and Rosanna Arquette, and Alice and Lisa's long-overdue break-up.

They also re-enact Dana's blind date with a guy.

Along the way, they ask the eternal questions: Can lesbians do open relationships? What is the deal with Snoop Dogg and smoothies? And would you throw away a perfectly good bottle of wine just because your girlfriend's girlfriend walked in on you?

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1, "Listen Up"

This week, at the risk of speaking to soon, we go on record with our assessment of "Listen Up" as perhaps the most boring episode of The L Word. Ever.

While probably all of our mothers taught us that whole "If you can't say something nice, then keep your trap shut" maxim, we instead refer to the other time-honored lesbian tradition, that of making a list of all the things we didn't like.

Yes, it's true that there was some good in this episode. For example, watching other people endure group therapy! That's always fun, right? Then there's Alice using puppet hands to help Dana practice coming out to her mom. Good times! And, finally, Jenny stalking spying on the woman she's in love with, well that's just comedy gold.

Anyway, we invite you to play along and create your own lists of things wrong or right about this episode. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1, "L'Ennui"

In this episode of The L Word, the gang goes on a three-hour tour. OK, not really — they go to a yacht party and overdo in every possible way. Maybe a three-hour tour, complete with shipwreck, would have been a little more manageable than an out-of-control yacht party. Especially if Mary Ann was there serving up some coconut cream pies in her short shorts. But I digress...

Before said yacht party, wifeys Tina and Bette are subjected to an intervention informing them of how lame and boring they've become in their heightened state of domesticity.

Hmm...I think we said the same thing last week about "Lisa," so maybe we need to get a bit more creative.

Nevertheless, watch us hurl similar insults insights this week at the characters on...The L Word.

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1, "Losing It"

Hitching is dangerous, kids, so don't do it. Sure, Jenny Schecter can eat some mushrooms and thumb a (magic carpet) ride, but that doesn't mean that you should.

In addition to Jenny's wild ride with her new teen friends, this week we also discuss the fact that Shane still does not look like a boy, that Lisa is still really annoying, and the notion that Tina really needs to work on her communication skills.

Yeah it's scary when Marcus's nutty girlfriend, Lei Leng, turns up. But would it kill Tina to learn how to say "help" instead of leaving long, rambling, and vague messages that even Bette would be compelled to delete? We simply don't think so.

The Lo-Down: Guestbian Dara Nai

On this week's episode of The Lo-Down I welcome a special guest co-host: Dara Nai, the fabulous writer behind "bad machine" as well as star vlogger from We're Getting Nowhere (not to mention Hottie No. 93). We shot this episode live from the Beverly Hilton, where I spent what felt like 10 years covering the 2008 Television Critics Association press tour.

I like to call this special episode the "All-Asian Episode," since I interviewed Dara (sort of) about what it's like to be a hot Asian lesbian. We also talked about the celebrities we encountered during TCA (yes, they really look that good), the strange swag the networks were handing out, and why stalking is a part of my job.

The Lo-Down: Guestbian Dara Nai

Next time Sarah Pecora and I will be back with another special Lo-Down that I'll call "The Tattoo Episode," since we record Sarah getting her newest tattoo. We will also take your questions, so keep on sending in your Crock P.O.C. topics!

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1, "Let's Do It"

Sometimes our L Word cup runneth over. This was one of those weeks. In just one little episode, the weighty topics of vaginal rejuvenation, gaydar, and lesbian stalkers are explored at length. Dara, Jill, and I are all too happy to go along for the ride.

In this episode of WGN, we discuss lesbian footwear and reenact Alice's visit to a certain clinic and Jenny's obsessive replaying of Marina's messages on her answering machine (with our own twist, of course).

The puppets are back again, this time breaking down the semiotics of lesbianism. Which sounds a lot smarter than it actually is.

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1 Pilot (Part 2)

This week Jill, Dara, and I continue our discussion of the pilot episode of everyone's favorite lesbian drama, The L Word.

Among our many topics are Marina's moves (is groping Jenny during their first kiss understandable or amateur?), the temporary insanity displayed by Tina and Bette when picking up a "donor" at one of Bette's lectures, and the evolution of Shane.

We also reenact Jenny's walk of shame back to her bed with Tim after getting freaky with Marina.

And I'm happy to report that this week marks the return of our beloved sock puppets (thanks again to Dara and Brooke for their arts and crafts skills).

Remember the steamy love scene between Tina and Bette that closed the pilot episode? We revisit it this week, so enjoy the spectacle of hot puppet sex.

We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1, Pilot (Part 1)

Just when you thought it was safe to turn on your television....we're back, and so is The L Word!

Yes, thanks to Logo (AfterEllen.com's parent company), we can enjoy Season 1 of the groundbreaking lesbian drama in all of it's tear-stained, lusty, and lovelorn glory. In fact, the pilot episode of the series is so packed-to-the-gills with melodrama that they had to split it into two episodes for syndication. We followed suit with our vlog and did the same, so look for the second-half of our pilot recap next week.

This week Jill, Dara, and I reminisce about where we were when we first watched the show and our introduction to the lovely L ladies. We also reenact Tina and Bette's infamous trip to Dan Foxworthy's office to just "check in" for therapy. Only in our world, Dan's brother Jeff was filling in that day.

"Tina" (Karman) and "Bette" (Jill) in therapy with Dan Jeff Foxworthy

So rejoin the fray with us for a trip in the Wayback machine to five years ago, when The L Word premiered and the only power Jenny Schecter could wield was her ability to try our patience with her cluelessness about lesbians and her self-indulgent autobiographical fiction.
