Kate HudsonKate Hudson set to star as painter Margaret KeaneSick of watching the ads for the new Kate Hudson romantic comedy, Fool's Gold, that features yet another hapless man-boy (this time Matthew McConaughey) who can't commit or hold down a job but is likely to end up with a hottie who doesn't deserve him on his arm and riches in his pocket? Me too. Luckily, she has something new in the works, and it is unlikely to feature Kate beating a beer-swilling treasure hunter about the head with blunt objects.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Hudson is set to star in Big Eyes, a film about painter Margaret Keane. You may not know Keane's name, but you will likely recognize her paintings of wide-eyed women, children and small animals that became popular in the 1960s. I think the casting of Hudson in the role is brilliant. I wonder where they got the idea?
Submitted on February 7, 2008 at 4:22 pm Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson do battle in "Bride Wars"Despite the writers' strike, a handful of film projects are still going into production. One of those projects, script in hand pre-strike, is Bride Wars. It's described as a romantic comedy about two best friends who compete for everything from caterers to guests when they both decide on the same wedding date. Kate Hudson has been attached to the project since at least last November and is one of the producers of the film.
Recent news is that Anne Hathaway has signed on as the best friend with whom Hudson does battle. Let the cat fights begin. Actually, the hilarious part was the headline, "Liv Tyler's Lesbian Regret." There is so much you can do with the concept of "lesbian regret," isn't there?
Anyway, Tyler bemoaned the tameness of the kiss scene she did with Kate Hudson a few years ago in Dr. T and the Women. She said, "Kate plays a woman who is about to get married and she's completely in love with me. We were always so shy about the kissing but in retrospect we were like, 'We so should have just totally made out and tongued each other'. But we never did, we were just too scared to do it." … continue reading Submitted on June 22, 2007 at 5:44 pm The mother-daughter dynamic (a.k.a. the beauty of ridiculously good genes)So I was cruising the photos of the beautiful and bizarre at Cannes again (FYI, Sharon Stone: immortal glamour goddess from the front, still above average yet mortal 49-year-old from the back), when I stumbled across this vision of perfection: Catherine Deneuve and her daughter Chiara Mastroianni.
Yowza. With a little research (thank you, Google), I learned that Chiara is the daughter of Deneuve and Marcello Mastroianni and an actress in her own right. OK, fine, her credits include roles in movies like Hillbilly Chainsaw Massacre and characters described as “S&M Girl #1,” but we can’t all be Catherine Deneuve. Still, she was at Cannes with her mother promoting their parts in the animated feature Persepolis, so good for her. … continue reading Submitted on May 24, 2007 at 11:32 am |
