Itty Bitty Titty CommitteeMajor chains are taking the titty out of the "Itty Bitty Titty Committee"As you may already know, the film Itty Bitty Titty Committee was released on DVD last Tuesday. I missed the film while it was playing on the festival circuit, so last Friday, I decided to venture to the nearest Hollywood Video to purchase the DVD. I wasn't able to find the title on the floor, so I asked the sales clerk to search the store's inventory. After running a search on a computer, the sales clerk replied that there was no such title. He told me that the store carried a title called Itty Bitty Committee but not Itty Bitty Titty Committee. "No, that's not the one," I said. "The title of the film I’m looking for definitely has the word 'titty.'" He said the title Itty Bitty Committee was a new release and motioned for me to look at the computer screen. After taking a look, I realized the operative word in the title had been taken out. It turned out that all copies of the de-tittified title had already been sold, so I went to the nearest Blockbuster to rent the film.
Like Hollywood Video, Blockbuster also opted to offer the film without the word “titty,” at least in its brick and mortar stores. … continue reading Submitted on September 8, 2008 at 12:00 pm "Itty Bitty" Contest WinnerLast month, we partnered with POWER UP to launch a trailer contest for the lesbian-feminist-rage-against-the-machine-while-wearing-coke-bottle-glasses-and-kissing-on-girls movie, Itty Bitty Titty Committee, which is finally available on DVD today. We received several great submissions, and the winning entry was made by AfterEllen.com reader Mellie. Congratulations! Check it out here: You know what they say — first it's dying your hair, then it's spray-painting buildings and kissing girls! What's your favorite part of the trailer? Or the movie, if you've seen it? Discuss! Submitted on September 2, 2008 at 12:00 pm The Julie Goldman Celesbian Interviews Special: JAMIE BABBIT
Julie and Kate talk to director Jamie Babbit about her latest movie, Itty Bitty Titty Committee; why lesbians use activist groups to pick up women; and what it's like to direct an episode of The L Word.
Plus, Jamie explains how she convinces actresses to take their clothes off for sex scenes. It's entertaining and educational! The Julie Goldman Celesbian Interviews Special: Jamie Babbit
Tomorrow: Julie interviews Marnie Alton! Watch previous Celesbian episodes here. Submitted on January 24, 2008 at 12:00 pm Carly Pope is one of the new popular gals on "24"I’ve never watched 24. Not ever. Not even one clock tick. It’s just not my thing. And after six years of hearing our president mispronounce “terrorists,” I’ve pretty much lost all interest in the topic — real or pretend. So I had no intentions of watching the upcoming seventh season. Then, they started to announce the cast. And, well, things got interesting. The latest new installment, as mentioned in last week’s Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever., is Carly Pope.
You know Carly most recently as the lesbian drug dealer to the stars in Dirt; a CIA agent (the good kind, not the ones in black coats) in The Itty Bitty Titty Committee; and, of course, Sam from Popular. Well, now she will play Samantha Roth, the girlfriend of the president’s son who might be connected to his disappearance. I only watched Dirt on and off — it was a little too bleak and joyless for my taste — but I did catch Carly in a few choice scenes. Very choice. … continue reading Submitted on October 10, 2007 at 10:27 am Malinda and Sarah's Women of Color Video Blog, No. 1: The Meet and GreetNow that Sarah, Lori, Karman, Dara and Jill have made video blogging the Hot New Thing at AfterEllen.com, I broke down and gave in. Yes, I, too have gotten myself a camcorder and slapdashedly taught myself how to Sarah (left) and Malinda (right) explain themselves
Since this is our first video blog, please bear with us while we goof around with the technical details and learn how to light ourselves properly (yes, I see the huge shadow looming behind Sarah's head — oops!). We also do not yet have a name for our vlog, but we do have a suggestion for what we'd like to call it, and we hope you'll contribute your ideas, too. For our inaugural episode, we offer you a wrap-up of some of the women of color we saw in TV and film this summer, namely: … continue reading Submitted on September 27, 2007 at 12:58 pm Itty Bitty Titty CommitteeWHAT: High School grad and all American gal, Anna finds her purpose and herself after she hooks up with the radical feminists in Itty Bitty Titty Committee. |
